The best AI agents for small business in 2026
This list is written by Saména. We're on it, and we tried to be fair to everyone else. For a business that wants agents built on its own documents, we rank Saména first. To give every employee an assistant, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Le Chat, ChatGPT or Claude are often a better fit.

How we ranked them
We looked at what each option does for a company of 50 to 2,000 people with no dedicated AI team. What we say about other vendors comes from their official pages, checked in October 2026.
Five criteria mattered:
- Does it know your documents? Only the ones you've connected, or the full history of your clients and projects?
- Do you need a technical team? To connect sources, write agents and keep them up to date.
- Where does the data go? Server location, which models run, what the contract says about training.
- Who builds it and who maintains it? You, the vendor, or a contractor.
- How is it billed? Per user, or for the whole company.
1. Saména: for businesses that want agents built on their own documents
Saména reads your documents in SharePoint, OneDrive or Dropbox, read-only. Each document is linked to the others by client, project, method and team. Our engineers build agents with you for your tasks: drafting a proposal, preparing meeting notes, finding a past reference.
It's the best pick when the answer depends on your track record and nobody in-house has time to build these agents. Agents cite their sources, write Word and PowerPoint files, and live in the Saména app. They're also available from Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot.
- Limit: a setup phase with our engineers before the first agents go live.
- Limit: three supported sources today, SharePoint, OneDrive and Dropbox.
- Strength: one subscription for the whole company with unlimited users, plus a setup fee based on document volume.
- Strength: servers in France, Mistral AI models under a no-training contract, one encryption key per company, can run on your own servers.
2. Microsoft 365 Copilot: for companies that already run on Microsoft 365
Copilot works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. It draws on your email, meetings and SharePoint files, with each employee's access rights. Copilot Business, the small-business plan, is an add-on for organizations of up to 300 users.
Pick it if your whole company already lives in Microsoft 365 and wants an assistant in every app. Saména can sit on top: your agents live in the Saména app and also answer inside Copilot.
- Limit: billed per user, on top of the Microsoft 365 license.
- Limit: business agents are built in Copilot Studio, by you or a contractor. Copilot sees whatever each person can open, so review sharing rights first.
- Strength: nothing new for your teams to install or learn.
- Strength: processed within Microsoft's EU Data Boundary for European customers; check possible exceptions with Microsoft.
3. Mistral AI Le Chat Enterprise: for a European assistant you configure yourself
Le Chat is the assistant from Mistral AI, a French company. The Enterprise plan connects to SharePoint, OneDrive or Google Drive, and your teams can build agents without code.
Pick it for a European general-purpose assistant, with someone in-house to build and run the agents. Saména itself runs on Mistral models.
- Limit: your teams build and maintain the agents.
- Limit: Enterprise pricing is on request, with no published rate card.
- Strength: can be self-hosted, run in your own cloud, or hosted by Mistral.
- Strength: connectors respect existing access rights.
4. ChatGPT Business and Enterprise: to give every employee an all-purpose assistant
ChatGPT writes, summarizes, analyzes and answers questions. The business plans connect to SharePoint. OpenAI states it doesn't train its models on this data by default.
Pick it to give everyone a strong writing assistant. Saména can sit on top: your agents live in the Saména app and also answer inside ChatGPT.
- Limit: on Business, each employee connects their own SharePoint; rolling it out to the whole team is Enterprise-only.
- Limit: OpenAI is a US company. European data residency is announced for Enterprise; for Business, check with the vendor.
- Strength: very good at writing and summarizing, ready on day one.
- Strength: no training on your data by default.
5. Claude Team and Enterprise: for teams that write and analyze a lot
Claude is Anthropic's assistant. Team is built for groups of 2 to 150 people; Enterprise has a 20-seat minimum. The Microsoft 365 connector respects each user's permissions.
Pick it for a team that drafts and reviews a lot of documents. Saména can sit on top: your agents live in the Saména app and also answer inside Claude.
- Limit: billed per seat; on Enterprise, usage is charged on top of the seat price.
- Limit: Anthropic is a US company; where your data is processed is worth checking with the vendor.
- Strength: training on your content is off by default.
- Strength: connectors are included in Team and Enterprise.
6. Dust: for teams with someone to build their agents
Dust, a French company founded in 2022, lets your teams build their own agents. They connect to Slack, Notion, Google Drive and other tools.
Pick it if someone on your staff has time to design, test and maintain the agents.
- Limit: you need someone in-house to build and maintain the agents.
- Limit: billed per seat; the Business plan caps the number of connectors.
- Strength: a lot of freedom to build agents.
- Strength: data hosted in the US or the EU, your choice.
7. Glean: for large organizations with dozens of tools
Glean is an enterprise search engine with AI and agents. It advertises more than 275 connectors and shows each person only what they are allowed to see.
Pick it if you are a large organization that wants one search across all its tools.
- Limit: built for large enterprises; the customers on its website are large companies.
- Limit: pricing is not published, and access starts with a demo.
- Strength: a very large connector catalog.
- Strength: access rights built in from the start.
8. A local AI agency: for a one-off, highly specific project
An agency builds a tool for you, on a technology it chooses. It can handle an unusual case that no packaged product covers.
Pick it for a one-time project with a clear scope and a set budget.
- Limit: support after delivery varies from one agency to another. Ask who fixes and updates the tool.
- Limit: hosting, models and contract terms depend on each agency. Ask about data from day one.
- Strength: a nearby partner you can meet in person.
- Strength: a tool made for your case, with no standard product to bend.
How to choose in three questions
Answer them before any demo, ours or anyone else's.
- Does the task depend on your own documents? If not, a general-purpose assistant is enough. If so, you need a tool connected to them and built for that task.
- Who will build the agents? If nobody on staff has the time, rule out the platforms you configure yourself.
- How many people will use it? With per-user pricing, the cost grows with headcount. A company-wide subscription doesn't.
